Family fun and adventure on the new upper river
WHAT WE OFFER
To Help You Pick Your Trip
We offer a wide variety of trips from mild to wild, and several different packages. To make it easier to decide which trip is right for you, we briefly outline below what is offered. Our tours are all guided by our professional staff. We provide beverages after all trips and lunch on all full day trips.
We run the New River from March through October, 7 days a week. We run the Gauley River in September and October on the scheduled release dates only.
We require a minimum of four people to run a trip if we do not already have a trip scheduled.
Please see our rate sheets below. These are our standard prices, but we do have various specials throughout the season. If you are interested in more information, please call 1-800-292-0880, to speak to a travel planner. We will be glad to help your family or group select the perfect trip!.

BIG splashes on the Lower New River Gorge!
NEW RIVER - FAMILY CLASS TO ADVENTURE CLASS
We raft several sections of the New River. The Upper New offers family class mild trips, which are suitable for families with children ages 5 and up. This 'Family Float' tour is available in both a half and full day tour. The 'Family Float' is an excellent family or scout group trip with rapids rated Class I-III. This section is splashy and fun and is the perfect introductory to whitewater rafting. Both the children and the adults will love these Upper New tours; this section is perfect for a 50+ senior tour. **Please note that the 'Half day Family Float' departs our Hinton location, while the 'Full day Family Float' departs our Glen Jean location.
The Lower New River, the New River Gorge, is an adventure class section of the river, with rapids rated Class II-V. This section is great for veteran rafters, however, experience is not required. The morning section of the full day tour is more laid back, allowing novice rafters the time to learn their paddling techniques and safety commands before experiencing the roller-coaster-type rapids on the afternoon section. If you are looking for adventure, this is your trip! Minimum age of the new River Gorge is 14, however, ages 12 and up are permitted depending on water levels.
The Lower New River is also available in a half day tour. This trip, called the New River Gorge Express, is rated Class III-V. This tour by-passes the slower moving pools and heads straight for the higher class whitewater. Minimum age is 14.

Attacking Pillow Rock on the Upper Gauley River!
The Gauley River is the most intense whitewater available on the Eastern Coast and is considered to be a world-class whitewater adventure. The Gauley River is available only in September and October, when the Summersville Dam is drained to Winter levels. This river contains over one hundred rapids in a 26-mile section. It is rafted in two different sections, the Upper and the Lower Gauley.
The Upper Gauley is rated number 7 on the list of "Top 10 Rivers in the World" for whitewater rafting. This section is technically difficult and physically challenging. The Upper Gauley contains a variety of Class V+ rapids. The churning rapids of the Upper Gauley are not recommended for novice rafters; we suggest that all Upper Gauley rafters have prior Class V whitewater experience. Minimum age to raft the Upper Gauley is 16.
The Lower Gauley is comparable to the Lower New River Gorge. This 10-mile section is filled with Class I-V rapids. This is an adventure class tour that is exciting, rapid-filled and fun. Prior rafting experience is not required and the minimum age is 14. The Lower Gauley is a great alternative to rafting the New River Gorge and for those who are not experienced enough to raft the Upper Gauley.

The New River is one of the best rivers in the East for fishing. The clean waters of the New support an abundant habitat for life. Largemouth bass, spotted bass, rock bass, blue gills, crappie, wall eye, muskie, and stripers are just some of the fish that call the New River their home. Our fishing tours are a full day in length and are available on the calmer waters of the Upper New or in the rapid-filled New River Gorge area. Fishing overnights are also available for those who want to make the most of their outdoor adventure.
